Hip Hop CONNECTION: The Story Of Detroit content (analysis)

Most of the text on the content paged are laid out in columns on the right. the main image of GZA on the content page is placed on the right posing with his hand on his chin. The content is linked to genre of the magazine because the rapper GZA is a hip-hop artist and he is the founder of the hip-hop group Wu-Tang Clan. The content page is consistent with front cover because the colours that are used on the front cover red, white and black, are also used on the content.

This magazine features stuff like exclusive interviews with the audience favourite artists, they have free CDs for the audience to listen to and it has other stories of different rappers for people to enjoy. These features mainly help the magazine to sell. Also, the puff on the front cover of the magazine makes the feature "Exclusive Eminem Interview" more in-your-face.
There is only 1 image on the content page. The caption goes with the picture because the main image of the rapper has black and white wrist sleeves which goes well with the text and fades nicely. All the features are easy to find because by each story or interview has a page number so it can guide the reader to the right page he is looking for.

VIBE Magazine (Analysis)

The music genre of this magazine is R&B and hip-hop. You can tell this by the main image, who is lil wayne, a famous hip-hop artists. Also, their are names of R&B artists such as Jermaine Dupri. This magazine is aimed for young, middle aged male or females and are into hip-hop or R&B or both. You can tell this because there are names of young artists, R&B and hip hop artists. Also, young kids today are into Lil wayne and his whole crew Young Money.
The image relates to the music genre because the artist lil wayne is famous and well known hip-hop artist and is also featured on some R&B genre's. The main image is taken of Lil Wayne crouching on a chair which looks like a kings chair. This may symbolise that he is at the top of the music genre hip-hop and nobody can take him off it.
The colours that are used are blue, white and yellow and they contribute to the mood because the colours that are used are happy colours. The colours also go well with the image because the rapper is happy that he is at the top of the "hip-hop game".

The image relates to the audience because it shows the rapper crouching on the chair and teenagers sometimes like to stand on chairs and mess around. The masthead is called VIBE and it reflects the content by having Lil wayne as the main image because his songs are the new vibes that everybody are tuning in to nowadays. The colour of the masthead is yellow and some of the writing on the strap lines are white but some words have yellow aswell. Most of The writing has been placed on the sides and around the main image. Also, the B in VIBE is behind the head of the image to show that the rapper Lil Wayne is always in front of things. The only thing that is in front of the main image is the name Lil Wayne. The rappers name is slightly covering his shoulder to show people who he is.

HIP HOP CONNECTION: Respect The Gangsta (Analysis)

The music genre of this magazine is hip-hop and rap and you can tell this by the name of the magazine, the strap line, and the main image. The target audience are people who love hip-hop and rap and would want to know more about their favorite artists. You can tell this because their are stories about the history of record labels and what artists were signed to this label and it shows you the best rappers of all time.
The main image is of three rappers, one in the middle and 1 on each side. The image relates to the music genre because the three artist are famous rappers and represent hip-hop and rap music industry. Also, the image of the album cover which is named "Death Row Records" is also related to music genre beacause the record label is a rap record label. All three rappers are doing a gangster like pose by giving a feared look to the reader. They do this because gangster rap is about who is the best, and who control thing things in the inner city.This relates to the kicker because it says "DEATH ROW: The Story Of The World's Most Feared Label". The main colours that are chosen in this magazine are red, black and white. The colours contribute to the mood because most rappers always wear black. The colour red represents violence, meaning if you come in the way of these rappers then they will use violence at any cost.
Th title of this magazine is called Hip Hop CONNECTION. It reflects the content because on the strap lines is shows a list of hip-hop/rap artists and the image is of famous hip-hop/rap artists Dr. Dre, 2Pac and Snoop Dogg. The title also reflects the target audience because it will attracts readers who are intrested in hip-hop/rap. It will attract them from the title because it says hip-hop and they will immediately pick up the magazine and look at the main image and if they see their favourite hip-hop/rap name or image on the cover then they will be intrested in reading the magazine.    

XXL Magazine: 10th Anniversary (Analysis)

The music genre of this magazine is hip-hop. The target audience are people who are 45 and under and are into hip-hop. You can tell this because the two guys that are on the cover of the magazine are both hip-hop artists and they are aged between 28 and 40. Also, their are more hip-hop artists name on the magazine. 

The image is related to the music genre, by showing the two artists wearing chains and baseball caps which symbolizes the music genre hip-hop. It symbolizes hip-hop because most hip-hop artists wear chains, baseball caps and have tattoo's on their upper body. Also, the two artists on the main image are Birdman (baby) and Lil Wayne who both represent hip-hop. 

The guy's head on the left of the image is covering the letter L on the masthead. This tells us that this is a popular magazine and they don't need to reveal the whole name because people would recognise the magazine without having to read the whole name of the magazine. The main image is a medium long shot because half the legs are cut off and their are two people in it with little head space and they are both perfectly fitted on the cover.
The main colours that are used in this magazine are red, white and black. they contribute to the image by matching the colours with clothes. For example, one of the artists are wearing a red baseball cap and the other artist is wearing a black baseball cap. Also, the artist on the right has red bandana in his hand which matches the colour of the texts. The image relates to the target audience because most young people like to wear baseball caps and carry bandanas. Also, most people look up to these artist as potential role model, and would might want to copy their dress sense and the things that they do.
The title of this magazine is called XXL. XXL is another term for extra extra large, this may reflect the magazine because the magazine has very very big fan base and have a very big audience following them. It also reflects the content because most of the artists that feature on the magazine are really well known and have a big fan base. The masthead is in a jewelry font with diamonds in the letters which represents bling and a lot of artist love to wear jewelry which can also reflect to the music genre.

Preliminary Task Magazine Cover

This is the front cover of the magazine i have done in my preliminary task. the theme colours are red, black and white as you can see. There are a lot of areas I can improve on. e.g I could of took a better picture of my main image, I could of added at least 1 or 2 more pictures on the front cover. Also the picture could of been stretched out a bit more because it looks like its been squeezed in slightly.
